About me

Peonia was created to provide unique, handcrafted, fairly traded silver jewellery. Our primary aim is to be an ethical, honest, fair company. We don't agree with the concept of fast fashion - in fact, we advocate slow fashion - clothes and accessories that won't look unfashionable after one season. We're talking about pieces that you can wear time and time again and last longer: a classic trenchcoat, a simple white cotton shirt, a well cut blazer, a black wrap dress, and precious metal jewellery. Choosing quality over quantity doesn't have to cost a fortune though, and you don't have to buy designer items to be a follower of slow fashion.
We don't pretend to be perfect, but we like to do our bit for the environment and local communities. All our packaging is recycled or eco-friendly wherever possible. We don't send our jewellery out in boxes as, lets face it, most people end up taking the jewellery out and either putting the boxes away in a cupboard never to be used again, or in the bin. For this reason, our jewellery is packaged in recycled tissue paper and a lovely eco-friendly pouch complete with a pretty tag, all of which can be re-used and recycled. We also use recycled paper and stationary in our office.
We are an independent retailer based in Chester, Cheshire but we decided against a retail premises as we didn't want to pass on expensive overheads to our customers. Instead, we have our web boutique and attend regular local and regional fairs where customers can buy our products directly. However, we still like to give back to our local (and wider) community by using local companies where possible for our business services, design, photography etc., and are always looking for fair trade, charity and volunteering events to participate in. We also intend to give back to those who need it by donating 5% of our profits each year to charity.
