As a fast growing business, EthicalCommunity.com has been very luck to have had support from a range of green service providers and businesses. Thanking them all would probably end up sounding like a night at the Oscars, but there is one company that has gone above our expectations, Pair.com and we felt it was about time to shout their name from the rooftops!
When we launched EthicalCommunity.com something we were very keen on doing was ensuring that rather than just talking the talk, as a businesses we also “walked the walk!” by making sure that all our businesses processes were as green and eco-friendly as possible. This included ensuring that our website was hosted in a planet-friendly and sustainable way.
When a business typically looks into how they can make their organisation more green, web hosting is often something that gets unfairly overlooked. It’s easy to see all online alternatives as a “green” alternative due to the fact everything is digital instead of being  paper-based. Certainly this is an advantage and sure, our rainforests will certainly reap rewards here, but the hidden cost that is often neglected to be taken into account is the amount of energy used to power your website, which is normally measured by how green your hosting company is and what type of energy they use.
We did a fair bit of digging into green hosting, which is when we discovered pair.com who are notorious for putting a huge amount of focus towards ensuring their services are environmentally friendly. Since 2007 all their services have been carbon neutral  What’s more, we’re been delighted to see that over

As a fast-growing online Worlds greenest hosting companybusiness, EthicalCommunity.com has been very luck to have had support from a range of green service providers and businesses. Thanking them all publicly would probably end up sounding like a night at the Oscars, but there is one company that has gone so far above our expectations that we felt we couldn’t hold back any longer from shouting their name from our rooftop! That company is Pair.com

When we launched EthicalCommunity.com something we were very keen on doing was ensuring that rather than just “talking the talk” we also “walked the walk!” by making sure that all our businesses processes were as green and eco-friendly as possible. This included ensuring that our website was hosted in a  sustainable and environmentally thoughtful way.

When a business typically looks into how they can make their organisation greener, web hosting is often something that gets unfairly overlooked. It’s easy to see all online alternatives as a “green” alternative due to the fact everything is digital instead of being  paper-based. Certainly this is an advantage and sure, our rainforests will certainly reap rewards here, but the hidden cost that is often neglected is the amount and type of energy used to power your website. This is normally measured by establishing how green your hosting company is and what their environmental policy is.

We did a fair bit of digging into green hosting providers, which is when we discovered Pair who are notorious for putting a huge amount of focus on being environmentally friendly. Since 2007 all their services have been carbon neutral, and their environmental policy is littered (no pun intended!) with green processes ranging from their low energy and efficient use of IT – through to the way their offices are run. What amazed us with Pair was the amount of detail and care that has gone into every process within their organisation, from using energy-efficient solar powered LED office lighting, through to using purified water dispensers with ceramic cups for staff and guests.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Pair have recently announced that they are building the worlds greenest hosting facility in Las Vegas set to open in 2012 and when we heard the news quite frankly the fact sheets and pre-launch pics Pair sent us blew our minds! Amongst other eco-credentials the new centre boasts site development using fully sustainable desert eco-system techniques, on-site renewable energy generation, recycled, re-usable or non-polluting building materials, 100% day-lit office areas, outdoor work areas….and the list goes on and on and on!…

If you are currently running a website whether its a large platform or a small personal blog, if you aren’t already doing so we would encourage you to consider the impact that the server you are using has on the environment. During our research, and certainly specifically with Pair, we found that pricing models were very similar to less eco-friendly alternatives and the customer service Pair provides us is far superior to any of our previous hosting companies – so we feel this makes the decision somewhat of a no-brainer!

You can contact pair to find out more about the specifics on their hosting, and if you are looking to sign up then drop us a line to get a nice exclusive discount that Pair have given us.

On a personal note from us we’d like to say a big thank you from the whole EthicalCommunity.com team for continuing to be such a supportive partner.
