Sam Petter is the creator of a children’s eco lifestyle brand called "Tatty Bumpkin", which may sound familiar to you as she recently came to our TV screens pitching her business idea in the BBCs hit reality investment show "Dragons Den".
The "dragons", who aren’t exactly well known for sugar coating their hard hitting words, gave Sam a bit verbal beating and she left the show without the investment she was looking for, but undeterred Sam has been working away hard on the business and we caught up with her to find out how she had been getting on.
Tatty Bumpkin, as Sam explains, is a "lifestyle brand for babies and children for 0 to 6 years". Sam first conjured idea whilst spending lots of time in the peaceful orchards at "Wobble Farm" where the business is based. Sam found that after having a child this was a big catalyst in her quest to begin an ethical business. During her pregnancy she found herself into ways to have a healthy baby which she explains naturally led to learning more about organic natural materials.
Tatty Bumpkin can be split into two core areas, the products they sell (a range of eco clothing, toys and accessories) and activity classes aimed at kids designed to promote movement. Sam explains the two go hand in hand, as her products are not also ethically produced but also are designed to be both comfy and flexibility for children.

Sam’s latest addition to her shop is a children’s carbon neutral range (being the first to launch this) which Sam feels is going to be a big area of growth for the company in the future.
Will Tatty Bumpkin become the next Uncle Bulgaria or Worzel Gummidge for kids? Watch this space and find out!...
Sam (along with many other eco selllers) is selling her products in the EthicalCommunity.com marketplace so don't forget to take a look in the Tatty Bumpkin Shop if you want to see more.
